So the Verizon iPhone is finally out among the already highly popular iPhone 4s. Many people, including myself, had Verizon and didn’t want to commit to a new contract with AT&T just to have an iPhone. Now, none of that matters, because Verizon now has iPhone models! Lets take a look at the iPhone versus Droid operating systems and hardware.
I just wanted to tell you all a bit about the main differences between the iPhone and the Droid so that you can make an informed decision about which one to buy. Please see below for a link to my website that will link you to great iPhone and Droid sales as well as some iPhone accessories.
So, lets begin to look at the differences that will help you decide what to purchase in the iphone versus droid debate.
First off, both the iPhone and the Droid have access to the 3G network. This is great, because you will have access to tens of thousands of applications, which includes games, functional applications, maps, you name it.
Next, if you decide to activate your phone’s internet hotspot (which is an additional charge on top of your standard charges and data plan), the iPhone will only be able to provide Internet access for 5 devices, whereas the Droid can provide Internet access to 8 devices. This is great if you have a lot of friends over that use the Internet. Personally, I don’t use it in order to save money, and honestly, I really don’t need the extra Internet coverage. All in all, this difference between the iPhone and Droid isn’t a big deal for me, but for some people it could be a deal breaker.
Another important difference is that the iPhone does not have an HDMI port, whereas a Droid does. This is important only if you plan to plug in devices into your phone, like connecting your phone to the television in order to play a video on a bigger screen, for example.
The operating system for the iPhone is completely different from the Droid. The Droid uses the Android 2.2 network, while the iPhone relies on the iOS operating system.
One thing in the iPhone’s favor is that it has about 3 times as many applications available for download than does the Droid. However, most of the applications for the iPhone requires you to pay a small fee per download. Several applications on the Droid are free, although there are also many paid programs as well. I’ve also heard complaints that the Droid has more pornographic program downloads (which also increases the likelihood that you will get a virus on your expensive smartphone). This may also affecting the kid-friendliness of your phone. As a Droid owner, however, I have to say that pornographic material really is not that prevalent in the Droid Market. In other words, when comparing iPhone versus Droid, don’t let it be the deciding factor, because it really isn’t that big of a deal. unlock iphone 12
iPhone does not support Adobe Flash player, which will greatly affect your ability to watch videos online at certain websites.
iPhone also does not support turn-by-turn navigation. This is a real problem for me, because I drive all over the place for my job and use my free navigator frequently. This is one major thing that would sway my phone toward the Droid when comparing the iPhone versus Droid.
The iPhone does have better resolution than several Droid phones, displaying higher quality pictures and videos with its greater amount of PPI. It also has 2 cameras (one on the front and one on the back of the phone). This is extremely dynamic, because it allows you to see people (via an application) on your phone as you are talking with them (provided they have an iPhone as well. In the iPhone versus Droid debate, this would be a huge factor for me. However, I am really liking my Droid and am in a contract for another year.
The camera on the iPhone versus Droid camera is not as refined. The iPhone’s camera does not have as good a quality camera than do many droids. It has a 5 Megapixel camera, whereas some Droids, like the Droid X, sports an 8 megapixel camera.
